Ludwigite, Paigeite

 

Ludwigite crystal belongs to the borate mineral of orthogonal (orthorhombic) crystal system, while the number of iron atom exceeds the number of magnesium atom in the component of ludwigite, it is called paigeite.  The ludwigite crystal is acicular shape, long column shape, fibre shape, hair-like shape, and its aggregate usually appears radiate shape. The ludwigite mainly exists in magnesian skarn.

Uses the rotary kiln technology to process ludwigite or paigeite, the iron oxide in pellet is reduced and molten, to realize the separation of iron and slag. The boron oxide in slag is enriched.
